Weighing in at 600g, the Tucuman is incredibly lightweight, which makes it easy to transport along with your sleeping tent, sleeping bags and all the other stuff you’ll need for that weekend away. You could even strap it to the bikes on the bike rack, or just chuck it in the boot. It’s long, too, over 2m, so plenty of room to wheel the bikes in and get out without too much frustration.

Tidy Tent Xtra (Camper Cave)

The Tidy Tent Xtra is designed to be large, large enough to fit your bikes and whatever else you can throw into it, all in one glorious, out of sight, out of mind pile. Large enough for at least two adult bikes and a kid’s bike, plus other stuff, the high arch design leaves plenty of room to safely and securely zip up your belongings at home, or on a weekend away at the campsite.
Size and weight
At 3.6kg, the Tidy Tent isn’t the lightest, but it is huge, at 2m tall x 1.6m long and 80cm deep. Definitely one to get set up and then leave up. It’s durable and waterproof enough to do so, and when it’s not in use, it packs away into its own carry case, for storage in the boot of your car.

You can zip two Camper Caves together if you need more space, effectively doubling the depth and the volume inside. The roll-top entry makes putting your stuff away hassle-free (no battling with a door flap) then it simply rolls down and zips closed. Completely rain and windproof, so no need to worry about your belongings getting wet, and it has an inner groundsheet, to keep bags and boxes away from the wet floor. Relaxdays Bicycle Cover

Simple roll-down flap, the Relaxdays is made from a durable garden tarp material, which is great for keeping water out, and for giving you a nostalgic throwback to the good old days of camping. Ultra-simple construction, quick and easy to set up, there’s also an opening in the back so you can lock the bikes to the wall or a locking post, through the tarp.
Size and weight
The Relaxdays has a packed weight of 2.5kg, so it’s lighter than the Camper Cave, although not quite as sturdy. At 1.8m x 1.5 x 84cm, it’s big enough to hold two adult bikes and a kid’s bike, with enough room left over for all sorts of other garden and camping gear. Fantastic if you have limited space at home, and no room for a shed — great for campers and apartment-dwellers.
Features
The Relaxdays is really simple. Flexible rod support system and an easy to use roll-down, roll-up front flap, getting your stuff in and out is a breeze. Features an opening in the back of the structure, through which you can lock the bikes to wall clamps or locking posts. That roll-down flap then zips into place all the way around, sealing everything away nicely.

Value for money
If you can spend that little extra, maybe go for the Camper Cave, but the Relaxdays is still good value for money.
BlueStone Waterproof Rain Tarp

Big and waterproof, if you’re in the market for a tarp that folds down into a tent, this versatile rain cover is perfect. Super durable and flexible, it folds into whatever shape you need it to, the BlueStone comes with a set of clips and ropes to allow for full customisation of where you put it and in what shape.
Size and weight
The biggest bike tent featured on our list, the BlueStone is essentially a large waterproof tarp, measuring in at 3m x 3.7m. That means you can use it as a cover-all for yourself on picnics, or even sleep under it. And, at 1.3kg, it’s not too heavy, either.
Features

We love the Bike Cave as a camping accessory, but it’s also great for people with bikes who live in apartment complexes, or who just don’t have the space for a shed. Large enough to house two adult bikes in a completely waterproof environment, you can lock the bikes up through the small opening in the back of the Bike Cave.
Size and weight
At 2.8kg, the Bike Cave is sturdy and hefty enough to be left up as a permanent fixture at home, and durable enough to take on wet and windy camping trips. At just under 2m tall, it’ll house your bikes and other belongings comfortably, without the risk of tearing it or knocking it down when you take stuff out.
Features
The sloping design means rain and snow simply slide off, and the flexible poles make it quick and easy to set up, even in challenging conditions. You might need to weigh the bottom down in windy conditions, but the Bike Cave does feature a groundsheet to keep everything completely safe and dry. One of the best bike tents we reviewed.

These bike tents are useful but even at a reputable campsite (however remote) you should still lock your bike – I recommend a few camping stakes or pitch near a tree or fence and secure the bike that way.
A simple tarp is extremely versatile for all sorts of situations including keeping a bike dry
